Sprint to use mobile high speed network

Blistering EV-DO Rev
Tuesday, 11 March 2008, 08:06

SPRINT is upgrading one of its mobile phone models so that it can connect to a faster EV-DO Rev network.

The move will see punters get their download speeds doubled and uploads increased by eight-fold.

Sprint runs EV-DO Rev on its laptop cards, but mobiles have used the older and slower EV-DO Rev. 0 network.

The first phone to be upgraded to the new system is the Mogul phone. Download speeds should be 600 kilobits per second to 1,400 kbps which compares with 400 kbps to 700 kbps with Rev. 0.

The new Mogul will manage uploads of 350 to 500 kbps, up from 50 kbps to 70 kbps. ยต
