FANCY THE TRIP to Ipswich for a new computer? Then, if you've got some desk space, buy this AMD XP 1.5GHz system which comes with 1GB memory and a large 80GB HDD. In addition, you get two 16-inch XIOD monitors, DVD and a CDRW drives, keyboard, mouse, Logitech 2.1 speakers as well as a music library of 2500 songs. £200.

Play is selling a 128Mb USB2.0 MP3 player for a cheap £17.99 delivery and VAT included or £15.31+VAT. It is compatible with both MP3 and WMA formats and has up to 15 hours playback on one battery. Comes with earphone and one battery. Can't get simpler than that.

Dell sells the cheapest 17-in LCD laptop we can find in UK, at £699+VAT, £879 including delivery and VAT. Add in a 64MB X300 Mobility card and a DVD combo and you've got a very good portable computer.

If you're less likely to care for mobility, then check the Tiny Powerlite G910 which comes with a Prescott P4 3.0GHz processor, 512MB memory, a 80GB HDD, a TV Tuner with a remote control, a 17-inch monitor, a 128MB Radeon 9700 Pro video and of course the DVD writer plus a 5.1 sound system. The price, a cool £899+delivery.

One handy laptop is the Dell Latitude X300 available at MCSCOM. Comes with an Intel Centrino 1.2GHz, 640MB memory, a 30GB HDD, external DVD writer but most importantly a sub 2Kg weight. Only £480+VAT.

At Tigerdirect, a 19-inch Acer 1912 will cost you a cool $229.99 after a $50 rebate. The monitor is a 16ms, 1280x1024 resolution, It has a thin bezel and a great design. µ
