WILL THE INQUIRER'S crusade to implement Pentium M on the desktop succeed? Not if
Louis XIII Burns, Intel desktop supremo, has anything to do with
it, we'd suggest.
Nevertheless, you can make a very passable little lunch box - or in the jargot "small form factor" desktop using the awesome power of the Pentium M if you use a motherboard available from Kontron.
The firm is offering an "embedded" line using the Pentium M, the 855GM chipset and supporting up to 2GB of memory, it has emerged.
The 855GM chipset supports Intel Exscream! Graphics, has integrated USB 2.0 and a 400MHz front side bus.
The Jrex-PM datasheet, which you can find in this PDF, shows that the 3.5-inch single board computer has a lot going for it.
No price is available, but for those convinced the Pentium M is a real little scorcher that runs pretty cool, this might be a lunch time lunch box project some will care to attempt. µ
