PEOPLE ARE BUYING more clothes online than computers.

A study by Forrester Research said that Americans spent more on clothes online than they did on computers.

The survey said Americans spent $18.3 billion on clothes and shoes in 2006, a figure that will rise to $22.1 billion this year.

Computer hardware and software last year amounted to $17.2 billion and moved into second place. Car and car part online sales totalled $16.7 billion, while $10 billion was spent on curtains and other cosy home stuff.

The survey was commissioned by shop.org, and appears to exclude travel. µ
