G.Skill shows record low-latency DDR-II

Computex 2006 Why suffer with higher latencies?

THE WAR AMONGST enthusiast memory makers is a joy to behold.

The companies are battling out for every possible user of high-end memory products out there, and every spec on a piece of paper is important.

We were pleasently surprised to see G.Skill launch DDR-II 1000 modules with a declared latency of CL4 with 4-4-5 timing.

This is a rather impressive feat, since lowering of the TRAS value is often the hardest thing to do. In conversation with the G.Skillful Danny, we learned that the compnay is also actively looking in ways to improve not just DDR-II modules, but to be ready for the time when DDR-III pops along.

The jump from 4-4-12 to 4-4-5 at 1GHz data rate is an impressive one, but I would like to see DDR-II 800 with CL2 latency. ยต
