THE OUTFIT facing federal and state investigations for spying on board members and journalists, HP is sponsoring an award for "privacy innovation".

According to the Privacy Innovation Award site, HP is one of the key sponsors for the fourth annual HP/IAPP Privacy Innovation award.

Nominations for the award are being called for. Apparently they were created to honour "strong and unique contributions to the privacy industry."

HP was apparently concerned that there was not sufficient recognition for organisations that have embraced privacy as a competitive advantage.

We can see why. At least HP is not a judge. The organisation is aware that HP is in a bit of hot water. It has posted stories about the scandal in the news section of the site. Irony? They've heard of it. ยต
