Weybridge, Bear Lake join Intel desktop road map

THE MOST RECENT Intel road maps seen by the INQ show the addition of the Weybridge Pro and Bear Lake chipsets to the product mix. And Intel is also telling its customers that its confident it can meet its targets to deliver copious numbers of chips on its 65 nanometre process.

Weybridge Pro and Bear Lake come in the second half of next year, by which time four way Kentsfields will dominate the Extreme segment of Intel's desktop products.

Intel's introduction of the X6800 C2E CPU will come on the 23rd of July, priced at $1000. It will then roll out its E6700, E6600, E6400, and E6300 Conroe processors with speeds of 2.67GHz, 2.40GHz, 2.13GHz, and 1.86GHz respectively, and cache sizes of 4MB, 4MB, 2MB and 2MB. These chips will cost $530, $316, $224 and $183 respectively.

The Controe introductions will trigger a series of price cuts on the older processors as well as on the old Celerons. µ
