Sun's Blackbox coming to UK

A data centre in a shipping crate
Friday, 20 April 2007, 17:56
LONDONERS CAN get their first sighting of Sun's Blackbox datacentre-in-a-crate when the company pitches up with big black container in tow next month.

Sun plans to show off Blackbox, which it is targeting at companies that need auxiliary extra server capacity, at an event in mid-May at the National Army Museum. We don't know whether the choice of venue hints at one possible application of Blackbox, that of military support.

Regular readers, and a few irregular ones too, will remember that Blackbox inspired many expressions of interest, and even the odd profanity, when it was first discussed back in October. ยต
