Vole is not for turning

XBOX PRODUCT manager David Hufford has denied Microsoft is about to cut the price of its Xbox 360 console.

Hufford was quoted by Bloomberg saying the sweet spot of the market is really $199.

He felt obliged to release a statement saying that people are getting really spun up about the Bloomberg story and inaccurately reading tea leaves that don't exist.

He said that he spoke to Bloomberg hacks two months ago and discussed NPD data that had just been released. Reporting of the comments was accurate, he said, but interpretation of the comments by analysts afterwards was pants.

Hufford said that with Xbox 360s selling well enough there's no reason to announce any kind of price drop any time soon.
