SuSE Linux CTO says Bill Gates made him happy

Etre Conference Reasons to be cheerful - four altogether. Including washing dishes

WE HAD A NICE civilised lunch here in Berlin on a table which included Juergen Geck, chief technology officer of SuSE Linux.

Like ourselves, Juergen had listened carefully to Chief Software Architect Bill Gates chatting to the masses last night in Berlin's museum of communications.

We asked him what he thought about Bill's stuff and he gave us four quotable quotes which we felt we had to pass on to our readers.

First, said Juergen, he doesn't do the dishes like Bill does, he uses a dishwasher.

But, spookily, Juergen respects Bill in one way. Just as Bill Gates doesn't dream about Linux, SuSE Linux doesn't dream about Microsoft.

Geck said that Bill Gates had made him very happy last night because he compared Linux to the Internet. And, said Geck, everyone knows that Microsoft got that completely wrong.

Lastly, but not leastly, we asked him whether he mowed his own lawn. Juergen said: I don't think Mr Gates would approve of my lawn. It's much too untidy and it doesn't have a heliport.
