Tuesday, 19 August 2008, 11:41

DELL'S BELATED foray into the mini note-book market is about to come to fruition. Gizmodo has managed to get its hands on all of the press material related to the new 'Mini Note'.

The system as officially dubbed the 'Dell Inspiron 910' and Dell has seen fit to spec the baby laptop with a 1.6GHz (533MHz FSB, 512K cache) Intel Atom processor.

The system comes with 512MB of memory, expandable to 1GB, whereas disk space will be supplied by either a 4GB, 8GB, or 16GB SSD.

The bezel also comes fitted with a 0.3 megapixel webcam. Wifi is included, and Bluetooth can be added via an optional mini card.

Interestingly, Dell will provide buyers with either Ubuntu or Windows XP.

Full base specifications can be seen here.

Gizmodo thinks the starting price of the Mini Note will be $299, and have a Friday (22nd August) launch date - but this has yet to be confirmed. ยต

2 little 2 late

This is utter uselessness. I really like Dell, in fact I've purchased 2 XPS 17xx's, and the quaint little 540 quad tower, but this mini netbook is UN-inspiron to me compared to the Asus eeePC 1000H. What is Dell thinking? :-/

missing keys

Where are the function keys on the keyboard? Was that left out because of the cost? I'll take a ASUS or Gigabyte netbook over the Dell mini note any day.
