DAVE DITZEL HAS joined Intel. Yes, you read that right, but just in case, let me repeat it, Dave Ditzel has joined Intel. Here at CeBIT, it is the talk of the show, or at least the talk of few at the show.
In any case, you might remember Dave from Sun where he was director of the Advanced Systems Group. He left that job to found Transmeta, a company dedicated to making a low power x86 chip. They did, and it caused enough alarm at Intel for them to react with their own line of low power CPUs.
In the end, Transmeta essentially folded, and Dave Ditzel was not heard from until some birds singing in the Hannover sunshine told us to expect him to next surface at Intel really soon. Of all the places he could have turned up, this was on the short list of places where no one expected him to end up. µ
