Nvidia's 5900 Ultras appear to have a problem, Jim

WE NOTE THERE appears to be something rotten in the state of Denmark where Nvidia has just started shipping its Geforce FX 5900 Ultra cards.

In an extremely long thread, some people that bought EVGA Geforce FX 5900 Ultra appear to have some problems with the cards. The title topic is "5900+Ultra+issues ".

But looking at the thread it appears to to me that this problem may well be DirectX related and could easily be a driver problem.

Users have reported lock ups is 3Dmark03, Half life, Raven Shield and Ghost Recon in the seemingly endless thread.

According to the thread, games and applications just locks up and at this time there appears to be no answer. Some of the guys on forum actually tried all the stuff that a man could try in these circumstances including messing with different drivers, memory timings, and even reinstalling cards on two different motherboards.

One thing that might hurt Nvidia's feelings is that the Radeon 9700 works without any problems with all these applications.

We know that Nvidia reads us but still doesn't talk to us as we appear to be regarded as some kind of Beelzebub-like Anti Nvidia Evil Force of Darkness, it messed up with Nforce 2 drivers and screwed up a few systems including the INQUIRER test bed, in which Eva Glass does not lie, we hope that the chaps will come up with some answers for frustrated users of the Geforce FX 5900 Ultra card in this case with the EVGA sticker on it.

Nvidia simply cannot afford another big mess at the high end. µ
