EURO MOBILE computer specialist, Fujitsu-Siemens, is planning two new versions of its Pocket Loox, a Microsoft Pocket PC based PDA with an Intel PXA250 processor.

Although the original Loox came with built-in support for Bluetooth, its ability to communicate over GPRS was supplied courtesy of a slot in CF (Compact Flash) card.

According to Andy Barker, mobility product business manager with Fujitsu-Siemens, by July 2003 there should be a new version with Wi-Fi connectivity built in. Better still it will feature the company's 'trans-reflective' screen technology. Designed initially for its Tablet style portable computers, this technique apparently permits much better viewing of the screen in bright sunlight.

Working in co-operation with Siemens mobile phone division, Barker expects to have a second Loox with GPRS built-in available Q4 2003. When this happens, Barker predicts Vodafone will be looking very carefully at offering the PDA. µ
