AI claims Brazil will win World Cup

England out in the semis again
Tue Jun 13 2006, 07:34
STUDENTS at the American University in Dubai have written an artificial intelligence program that they say can predict the outcome of the World Cup to three decimal places.

According to Imran Fanaswala and Yashar Fasihnia, both 22, Brazil will beat Italy to win the World Cup.

Their software, called Fifa Intelligence, claims to have an 83 percent accuracy and has managed to predict the winners of each game from the group stages to the final.

The software is based on statistics and involved collecting more than 20 years of data about team performance, score and scorers.

Fanaswala and Fasihnia claim that one semi-final will feature the Netherlands and Italy and the other England and Brazil.

England will beat Argentina in a game which will result in the Sun newspaper banging on about how England beat them in a war. This will result in more English sticking silly flags on their cars and starting to call their new born children after the team members. [My inborn native intelligence forecasts Fernando Cassia will not be happy about much of this paragraph. Ed.]

Then the team will be given such a good kicking by Brazil that the tabloids will demand the resignation of the team, the coach, the Blair government and possibly the nuking of Brazil. Funny game football.
