Java works on Vista

Ignore the rumours
Tuesday, 10 October 2006, 09:08
VISTA HOPEFULS who have been told that Java will not work on their machines after they install the new super soaraway operating system have been mis-informed, according to Sun.

The rumours that Java will not work appeared on Microsoft Watch and a few of those helpful pieces of software which sniff your spec and tell you to buy a new computer.

However, the rumour has been dismissed as pants by those working on the Java project, who are a little surprised that Sun has been accused of forgetting Vista. Writing in his here, Chet Haase, said that Java works well on Vista ever since the days it was 'Longhorn'.

It was true that some of the older versions of Java did have problems on Vista, but the newer ones did not.

He said that there has been an ongoing process of learning, testing, debugging, each time Vole releases a new version, but everything seems to be working ok.

Haase added that some of the more obvious bugs, like Java 2D's disabling the Aero Glass whizzy desktop management system, have been fixed and available in snapshot releases of Java SE 6 for many months. ยต
