A BADLY DELAYED FORCEWARE Nvidia driver that we reported on at Computex is still not available to the public. But Nvidia has slipped out copies to some of its favoured press contacts for testing.

All reviews of Nvidia's final retail cards were delayed because of this driver, originally slated for May 28th.

Our Russian colleagues tell us here that this driver actually mentions a new Nvidia card called FX 5100. The product name, extracted from the .INF file reads "NVIDIA_NV34.DEV_0327.1 = "NVIDIA GeForce FX 5100".

This chip may be based on a crippled NV34 core and have a less than super memory interface, but we'll investigate it further during this week.

Meanwhile, it's still unclear when the driver will get WHQL certification and when it will be available for public download. But as you can't yet buy GeForce 6800s, maybe there's no rush. µ
