NATO DEFENCE MINISTERS meeting in Brussels decided "urgent" work is needed to protect member states from cyber attack following the ebarrage Estonia endured last month.

A spokesNATO told assembled hacks that the attacks on Estonia were "sustained, coordinated and focused. They had clear national security and economic implications," he said.

He added that, as they sat around a table the defence ministers agreed "urgent work is needed to enhance the ability to protect information systems of critical importance."

It's only taken a month or so for them to get urgent. Soon they might decide what they might urgently do.

Still, Estonian Defense Minister Jaak Aaviksoo told Reuters that his country had "got more support than we expected, particularly with this acknowledgement of an urgent need to react."

The defence organisation should come up with a game-plan by the time a more influentiual country than Estonia comes under cyber attack. µ
