INTEL PRESIDENT and CEO Paul Otellini finally made his much-awaited cameo appearance at Oracle Open World 2008.

The Big Chip gave a rather over-rehearsed speech about the significant impact Intel processors have had on life, the universe and everything.

Otellini also joked that his company was attempting to design a flux capacitor, which would presumably be integrated into Oracle's official DeLorean.

The Chip Chief took some time away from his impromptu comedy routine to discuss more serious matters, such as the Tukwila processor which is scheduled to ship during the first half of 2009.

In addition, Otellini briefed the Moscone audience on the quad-core Core I7 processor, which will apparently contain a whopping 86 million logic transistors capable of simultaneously processing eight threads.

The company also trotted out a number of other speakers who explained that Intel chips now power a wide variety of advanced applications, including analytical software and advanced diagnostic tools. µ
