Microsoft gears up for CE 6.0 launch

Vole bandwagon starts to roll
Tuesday, 17 October 2006, 11:20
WITH CE 6.0 DUE TO BE launched on November 1st, Microsoft is beginning to wake its FAEs ready for action with a flurry of developer conferences, videos and announcements.

Last week at the Embedded Systems Show in glamourous Birmingham, UK, Sophia Systems were showing off their XScale based reference designs which now come with a CE 6.0 BSP (Board Support Package - or "drivers" as they are known to the rest of us), and a range of OEM technical seminars are in progress across the world.

If you're in Taipei on the 18th, then stop in and say hello to the fantastically named Zebra Chen, from Techware Information Technology, yes - TIT, who is hosting the Taiwan session.

Mike Hall, the Windows Embedded product manager, has also posted eight pretty interesting hands-on technical sessions on his bog, showing an overview of CE 6 and how to use it.

The launch event will be shown live on the web at 1am PST, November 1st, and you can register at http://www.ce6launch.com/, if you're interested in the sort of thing that will be powering smartphones in the second half of 2007. ยต
