Nforce 3 to come in PCI Express flavour

Chipset offered boundless bandwidth
Friday, 26 March 2004, 12:05
NVIDIA IS PUTTING ITS Nforce 3 chipset on the PCI Express. The chipset will slither into a saddleback and thunder from post to post, down highways of vitually endless bandwidth.

Actually this chipset is still under development and it is not that much of a secret. We spoke with someone that knows a lot about Nvidia chipsets and we learned that Nvidia indeed has plans for the NForce 3.

Nvidia is eager to see its PCI Express solutions slip into many of tomorrow's PCs. It's the next big thing and they have to make this transition as fast as possible.

They have the Babylonian Bridge solution, of course, and they showed it off loads, but that too is still some months from launch.

NForce 3, or whatever they decide to call it in its PCI Express pants, will need some R&D before it is done. Maybe they'll change its name to NForce4 - makes perfect sense to us.

As you know, you can never know in the murky world of semiconductural marchitecturing. One bridge may lead nowhere. Another gate may be closed. You never know where your flannel may lead you. But you can hope, since there is always hope. At least that's how the lord McCartney of Wings sees it.

We don't have any specifics or timings but it won't be long till we get them. µ
