ATI R600 Valve coupon owners are safe

Cancellation of Black Box does not affect them
Tue May 22 2007, 11:55
VALVE CAUSED SOME uncertainty when Gabe Newell gave a bit of a chit chat with the fellas from IGN - at least if you were planning to buy ATI's Radeon HD 2900XT and its bundled Half Life 2: Black Box coupon.

It turns out that Valve has decided to cancel the Black Box, package worth $39.99, and offer nothing else but the Orange Box. Orange Box costs $10 more, but offers full versions of Half Life 2 and Half Life 2: Episode One.

But, owners of the coupon and potential owners of the coupon can rest assured that the product they wanted to activate will be The Black Box. Valve only cancelled was the retail version. For Radeon HD 2900 lovin' with Episode Two, Team Fortress 2 and Portal, there is no danger.

We give special thanks to Doug Lombardi, for his quick reaction and replying to us quickly. µ
