AMD's Hector Ruiz takes on Joan Baez mantle*

Wins big order for Athlon chips, strums "we shall overcome"
Thu Nov 21 2002, 12:09
A REPORT ON yesterday's San Jose Mercury News said that AMD customer Hewlett Packard has won a big deal to supply tens of thousands of computers to large New England organisation Northeast Utilities.

This is a good win for AMD, but rather intriguingly Hector Ruiz immediately picked up a guitar and started to - we believe the expression is "jam" - with Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash.

Although the guitar Hector is touting is an electric guitar, the picture that the Mercury News publishes in the story, for some unaccountable reason, reminds us of Joan Baez playing the guitar and singing "we shall overcome".

We don't quite understand why. But have a look here for the whole story. ยต

* APOLOGIES FOR the headline which read "John" rather than "Joan" Baez until readers pointed it out. Apologies to both John Baez and Joan Baez.
