XBIT LABS has a review of something called aGeforce 7800GTX here. Eighteen pages in which the ability of xbitlabs to dissect new technology is again exposed. Loads to read, ponder and appreciate. The X850PE and the 6800 Ultra are also included in the review as a comparison. Interestingly, the X850PE happened to get more than a few wins which suggest that a X800XL Crossfire version might prove to be an interesting competitor.

Trustedreviews is lucky to be one of the first to review a rig with not one but two Geforce 7800GTX cards. Arguably, for £2099 inc VAT, the Evesham AXis 64 Decimator 78 is more costlier than most PC. It is the fastest machine you can currently get on the market thanks to its X2 4800+ processors - no FX57 here - and with the help of some carefully chosen components will keep you happily playing for some years.

Chinese website hardspell also has its own little review of the 7800GTX. The monster chip is tested and tried in a number of benchmarks both as a single and double card. While the review is in Chinese, the figures and the names of the benchmarks wil give you an idea what to expect from the 7800GTX.

Firingsquad has a performance preview of the Geforce 7800GTX. Firingsquad included in the 6800GT and the X8x0 XT/XL cards in the benchmarks for a more complete view. The card does not consume that much technology and offers a bump of up to 48% in some applications compared to the previous generation.

Techreport checks the 7800GTX in a 27-page review. It talks over length on the various advantages and new technologies brought in like more vertex and pixel shaders as well as improevd antialiasing. It also brings in HDR technology which seems to be the next Graal in video rendition. High Definition Rendering is playable but only in SLI. The fact that the card is a quiet single slot cooler makes us think of the transition between the FX5800 and the FX5900.

Hardwarezone also got a card for review. This time Vijay Anand even managed to overclock it and produce a 25-page article with loads of photos and benchmarks. Vijay successfully managed to overclock the card to 480MHz and 1.37GHz respectively for core and memory speeds. Net performance gain approached 13%, with 3DMark 05 figures approahing 8400 marks in single card configuration.

Neoseeker also joins in the 7800GTX club. The 304M transistor monster has a fll rate of 10Gpixel, five time that of the 5950. Reviews, reviews, comments on power consumption and noise (or absence of it). The 7800GTX performs similarly to a pair of 6800GT in SLI. It consumes of course, less power, is less noisy and cost slightly more than a pair of them.

Last but not least, HardOCP applies its usual frankness to the 7800GTX. Got some overclocking here and some nice comments. In DOOM III for example, they got better results with one card than with two cards running at 16x12 with 4x transparency MSAA in HQ mode. And guess what?7800GTX is the best card for playing HL2.

Stay tuned for more 7800GTX reviews tomorrow. µ
