AMD claims software industry is on its side

CHIP FIRM Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) surpassed itself today by claiming the software industry has "embraced" its 4X4 PC enthusiast idea.

Its evidence for this is that eight firms are working on software applications and games for the chip.

The firms are Sony, Nero, Midway, Irrational Games, Havok, Crytex, Cakewalk and Bioware.

Enthused Bob Brewer: "We're looking at a decidedly multi-core processor". But while Brewer may be looking at it, he gave no indication of what "it" is.

Other than saying AMD calls it 4X4, while really it is two dual core processors stuck next to each other on a motherboard. It declined to tell us more when we wrote about this a few weeks back. µ
