Friday, 12 January 2007, 11:59
A BEVY OF class action suits have been filed at a bevy of LCD manufacturers alleging they conspired to keep LCD prices high.

One such, filed earlier this month in a San Francisco district court by Michael Juetten is aimed at LG Philips, Samsung, NEC, Hitachi, IDT, Sanyo Epson, Sharp, Toshiba, Toshiba Matsushita, AU Optronics, Chi Mei Optoelecronics, Chunghwa Picture Tubes and Hannstar.

The allegation centres around a claim that the defendants were co-conspirators to raise the prices at which they sold TFT-LCD products to "artificially inflated levels" from the 1st of January 1998 to the 31st of December 2005.

The subject of a probe by various government bodies worldwide is price fixing and anti-competitive practices, the filing alleges. ยต
