Seventy-five journalists have been killed at work so far this year, surpassing the 72 killings in the whole of 2004, the previous deadliest year on WAN's record. Mind you, WAN has only been keeping records since 1997.
Said Timothy Balding, CEO of the Paris-based WAN: "More than 500 journalists have been killed in the past decade, often for simply doing their jobs. These murders are a direct attack not only on individuals, but also on society as a whole. Yet few of the killers are ever brought to justice."
Probably because no-one gives two figs. ยต
