AMD declares the Radeon 2400, 2600 shipping

Clarifies the Unified Video Decoder
Monday, 11 June 2007, 09:59
THE GRAPHICS arm of AMD said it has started shipping volumes of HD2400 and HD2600 graphics chips to its add-in board customers.

The people to ship it include Sapphire, Power Color, Asus, Ge Cube, Club 3D, Gigglebite, HIS, and MSI.

More interestingly, perhaps, AMD wants to "clarify any confusion" about the Unified Video Decoder in the HD2000 series. It's in the HD2300, the HD2400 and the HD2600 but not in the HD2900.

This is where the release descends into gobbledygook. The UVD is not in the 2900 "as it is not needed due to the usage model of this high end product."
