Laptop thieves offered free beer for life

Sup it and see

A BREWERY in New Zealand is offering free beer for life for the return of a stolen notebook. The Croucher Brewing Company has backups of the contact and financial data on the computer, but it is, err, out of date.

So desperate is the brewery that it is offering a lifetime supply of its product to anyone returning the machine.

There are two drawbacks to this seemingly-generous offer. Firstly, the actual thieves might be somewhat reticent to supply their names and addresses; and secondly, the offer is limited to a paltry 12 bottles a month - barely enough for a decent lunchtime session for any Inq staffer. µ
