AMD World UK shuts

Hardware Site Watch
Sunday, 3 February 2002, 13:40
WE'RE SORRY TO SAY that UK site AMD World has shut up shop. That leaves precious few British hardware sites left - off the top of our head there's Hexus.net and Chick's Hardware. There's a message on the site for the reasons. When even sites run by big publishers like VNU and Reed are going through hard times, it's not surprising that smaller sites go by the by - although it's bad news for everyone when choice lessens.

At Gamespot, there's a notice saying that it will have to restrict FTP downloads.

Atlanta OC has posted a review here of the Directron SF-201 black aluminium case. Compaq is currently moving its entire AlphaServer range to what it calls "black graphite casing", and very attractive it is too. IBM has used this colour for its StinkPads for some years now, apropos of nothing at all.

Geforce 4 stuff is popping up all over the place and at 3D Center there's a German review of Geforce 4 MX/TI.

Ace's has some interesting numbers up on its general message board about the ATI R8500 numbers here.

At Accelenation, there's a review of the P4X266A chipset in Via's very own motherboard.

HardOCP reviews Abit's Siluro GF3 TI500 at this page.

And more on the Abit front - AMD MB has reviewed the KR7A-RAID KT266A offering from the firm.

Please keep the links coming - we try to include as many as possible - bung em our way at Newsdesk. µ
