MACHINES USING THE Power PC 970 chip which Apple launched yesterday were claimed to be the fastest personal computers on the planet, but those claims are being seriously questioned.
Apple compared its machines to Intel platforms but hasn't even bothered to weigh up Jerry Sanders' CPUs, it appears.
One web site has compiled a list of Apple's SPEC scores to the Opteron, the Athlonium, the Pentium 4ium, the Xeonium, the Itanium and the Power 4ium.
Apple only benchmarks the new machines against the "fastest" Pentium 4 and a dual processor Xeon workstation, in the case of the dual G5 workstation.
According to AMD Zone, those results are deeply disturbing for Apple, and the author of the article, which you can find here, says he views the benchmarketing with deep suspicion. ยต
