Via to cut PC carbon footprint

Green is new black
Fri Sep 29 2006, 16:42
VIA IS TO to launch a range of "carbon-free personal computers" next Thursday, according to invitations being sent out to Her Majesty's Gutter Press.

Ever since green became the new black, computer vendors have been queuing up to demonstrate their environmental credentials, although a lot of the action so far has been on the server front.

All will be revealed at the event to be held, appropriately enough, in Kew Gardens, a botanical bonanza on the edge of London for those outside the Big Smoke.

"Join us as we explore the latest environmental issues affecting the PC industry together with leading environmental experts, and the groundbreaking steps VIA and its UK system partners are taking to reduce the environmental impact of PC usage,” reads the virtual stiff card of invitation.

It may even be the case that VIA is extending the gentle touch to the refreshments. Only "light beverages" and a buffet lunch will be served, it warns. µ
