All your missile bases are belong to us
Tuesday, 29 November 2005, 08:34
LOCKHEED Martin is planning to use a distribution of Linux for its United States Army Theater High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) program.

RedHawk Linux, which is a Concurrent distro, will be used to provide real-time Linux simulation testing of strategic missile defence subsystems.

Concurrent claims that it was selected because only RedHawk Linux was able to ensure the high frame rates required in simulations without frame overruns. this meant that you get a high quality of system test, although it would say that wouldn't it?.

The iHawk systems are powered by either eight Intel Xeon or AMD Opteron processors and up to 64 GB of memory in rack mount and tower enclosures.

* INQBLOT Intel once bought graphics technology from Lockheed Martin. Why? We guess because it could.
