Intel faces job cuts quandary

Managers don't cut themselves
Tuesday, 18 July 2006, 09:00
WORD HAS COME down to us that the recent Intel job cuts were indeed all managers.

This is without a doubt, a very good thing.

Leaked org charts show that there are exactly 17,491 layers of bureaucracy between Paul and Zeke, the guy who runs the show and the guy who talks to his shoes in the warehouse. Removing many of them can't hurt much.

Word also has come in that the cuts are supposed to be targeted at those who need to be cut for any particular position. That's a nice concept, but the rub lies in the fact that many of the people who are most in need of said chopping are managers themselves, and are reluctant to cut themselves out of their own cushy seats. ยต
