Microsoft knuckles under to Euro diktat

We will comply, Vole says
Mon Oct 22 2007, 13:28

THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION said that Microsoft has struck an agreement to comply with its ruling about antitrust practices.

Microsoft will reduce charges for licences to use its products from nearly six per cent to .4 per cent. And the Vole will provide access to the way its software works and charge a one off payment of €10,000 Euro.

That also implies that third party software firms have access to this information, according to the Wall Street Journal. µ

Yeah, sure

They'll comply, just like they complied with the DoD. They'll make lots of noise around complying, they'll make a great show of it, but when you remove the fluff, they won't really do anything except avoid complying.
Kind of like getting performance in Vista. It's supposed to be there, but you never see any of it.

Common sense

This is common sense and actual policy that are being followed. For Americans this must be weird to read. :) "under to Euro diktat" isn't really correct. @ least our government try to protect us from big **evil** companies.

What's a server got to do with it?

Or am I getting this wrong? Microsoft is not a market leader in the server OS market!

Authorities in several countries raided Megaupload recently, shut down all of its services, seized hundreds of servers and arrested several of its executives on criminal charges.

Do you think the move was justified?
