Thompson bails GTA case

Dropping out to help the case?

IN AN unexpected turn of events, it looks like we won't see Jack Thompson go head to head with Blank Rome during the Strickland vs Sony (or the Grand Theft Auto) case in Alabama.

It has been confirmed that Thompson is no longer to work on the Alabama case, though whether or not this has anything to do with pressure applied by Judge James Moore has yet to be seen. For his own part, Thompson's claim is that he may well be called to the stand himself during the proceedings.

This news comes after the revelation that Thompson's licence to even work the case was under review thanks to Blank Rome's argument that he is in violation of legal ethics thanks to his abundant press releases. Blank Rome's Jim Smith said that, "He can't proceed with the civility the rules require. All lawyers have to conduct themselves with honesty, integrity and civility. This isn't a street fight."

Before anything could come of all this, Thompson has removed himself from the proceedings. He told GamePolitics, here, that the other side wants to make him a plank of its pleadings. He has also implied that his departure will have little affect on the case itself.

This comes alongside the less publicised news that Thompson received, at his home address, a tube of vaginal lubricant, courtesy he feels, of Rockstar.

Without doubt this case will proceed more quietly without JT but it will be interesting to see how things develop without the Thompson flare. µ
