K-Hardware goes in details with the Core microarchitecture and uses eight different benchmarks like Packprogramme, Everest, Cinebench 2003. The CPUs included in the benchmark includes the unannounced X6900 which runs at 3.2GHz. Crunchy to say the least.
Crustedreviews tests the Sony SDM-E96D 19-inch Monitor. It is cheap, which is almost an Oxymoron for a Sony brand. Like many Sony products, this one is well thought. The stand can be used as multipurpose holder, for your pens, for your post its and more. Behind, you have a DVI and a D-Sub connector. As for the monitor quality, it is only a 6-bit panel - hence the low price - perhaps the with a native resolution of 1280x1024 pixels. Good for office uses but definitely not for gaming and DVD watching.
Another Sony product being reviewed is the Vaio VGN-S72VP laptop. It is actually a sub-laptop with a 13.3-inch WideXGA screen, together with a choice of Intel's GMA950 graphics or the Nvidia Geforce Go 7400 integrated graphics. On top of that, you get a web cam, HDD protection, 1GB DDR2 memory, a 120GB HDD, a DVD Writer, Integrated Wifi and a Core Duo processor. But bear in mind that the Sony's keyboard quite poor, the laptop itself gets hot and has only two USB ports.
MVKTech.net ponders on the lines of the Geforce 7950 GX2 video card. Two of those cards will allow you to run your games at 2560x1600 pixels with 32x AA and 16x AF on. The card itself is huge but the heat sink fan is well within limits. No dust buster here. MVKTech managed to overclock the 7950 to 580MHz/1550MHz which for such an advanced product is a feat. Quad SLI support is pending and to really get the best of the cards, you need to go for two Apple 30-inch Cinema Displays - which is itself worth a few £50 notes. Plus on top of that, you do not need a SLI motherboard to enjoy that card.
Hi-Techreviews introduces our readers to the Sunbeamtech Tuniq2 casing. This mid tower model is made up of Aluminium and Steel. It comes in three different models and can accommodate up to 13 components in addition to the seven expansion slots. There are also two 120mm fans with the ability to take on a 120mm fan, plus the usual connectors. There are a number of small details like the fact that the power LED and HDD activity LED are on top. The casing's inside is even more puzzling with a very good setup.
Chilehardware checks Supertalent memory sticks. Two 1GB modules are put to the test. They are overclocked DDR433 models with a CL2-3-3-6 latency. With a lifetime warranty and an aluminium heatsink spreader, the only things that might prevent you from buying it are availability, price and performance. Just for your information, the modules uses Infineon IC5 parts. The performance of these parts could make Supertalent a name to reckon with. µ
