DRM PROVIDER Secure Digital Container, or SDC, has announced that it will deliver a fully DRM-protected mobile music download service in China.

Teaming up with China's leading handset retailer Beijing Digital Telecom, the service will be the first of its kind in the area. The service will use SDC's wireless DRM technology in conjunction with SDC's Java Media Player to supposedly fully protect artist copyrights and meet requirements for the Chinese record industry.

The service is expected for launch on the 31st of January, and will be operated through Siemen's already-established Music2You okatfirn,

If the platform takes off it could be very good news for Beijing Digital Telecom, which runs over 800 stores in China - over 250 million subscribers will be offered the service. SDC states in a press release that China is quickly looking to become the world's largest market for mobile music. ยต
