Scalado gets lucky with Symbian

Imaging software SDK gets OS link
Tuesday, 17 October 2006, 18:24
SPECIALIST MOBILE software Scalado has announced a deal at the Symbian Smartphone show which will see its SDK get linked into the next version of Symbian. Which might be called Symbian v10 or V9.1, we're not sure.

It doesn't sound like a big deal but OEMS and ODMs can often get lazy. So rather than bothering to create their own imaging suit, what easier than take advantage of the hooks to Scalado and pay the licence fee for the suite.

This is exactly the kind of beginning which made the likes of a Microsoft into a mighty Beast (of Redmond).

Scalso's software can offer a host of neat tricks including morphing. But its real advantage is that it can store cameraphone shots in virtual no memory. Indeed the company claims it reduces required storage by a factor of 25. ยต
