HP inks deal with Pelikan crossing patent boundaries

Cartridge crash
Thu Aug 02 2007, 12:03
GIANT DISTILLER of ink, HP, said that Pelikan has admitted it infringed on patents.

And so the Dusseldorf Regional Court imposed a ban on Pelikan Deutschland and Pelikan Switzerland to stop importing and distributing infringing ink cartridges, recall all products in the channel, and pay HP damages.

Pelikan made new cartridges sourced from a third party and imported into Germany.

HP said it took its "investment in intellectual property very seriously" and will carry on being "vigilant". It didn't say how much Pelikan had to stump up. ยต
