Itunes TV goes online

UK gets stiffed, again
Wed Aug 29 2007, 10:34
APPLE HAS finally managed to get TV content into the Itunes store for UK users. The result, predictably, is dire.

Partners with content on the store include ABC, Paramount and MTV. Noticeably lacking from the store is, well, almost everything. The UK store looks like a skeleton effort compared to the massive amount of content downloadable State-side.

For example, the UK store has South Park season 10 and Lost season 3. The US Store has seasons 1 through 11 of the foul-mouthed brats and all three seasons of the island mystery . The UK store has season 1 of Ugly Betty and season 3 of Desperate Housewives, whilst the US has all seasons of both.

That's without mentioning the fact that the biggest sellers in the iTunes store - including House, The Office, Studio 60, Kyle XY, 24 and Firefly are nowhere to be seen. There aren't even any British shows on the UK store to make up for it, which means anyone hoping for pay as you go Jeeves and Wooster, or similar, is out of luck.

Just to add insult to injury, episodes here go for £1.89, as opposed to $1.99 in the States - making it roughly double the price.

Well, off to BitTorrent it is then, we suspect. µ
