The power and the glory
Wed Dec 12 2007, 16:14

SPEC released SPECpower-ssj2008, which gives an idea of the power and performance of servers.

The spec, said SPEC, will provide energy efficient style figures which will let organisations and corporations compare the measure power at the AC in coupled with a performance metric.

But, said SPEC, the initial benchmark addresses only one set of server workloads so far - server side Java. It will, however, run on heaps of OSes and hardware artchitectures, and SPEC is planning further implementations.

Details of the SPEC spec are here. µ
