Verizon coughs up $21 million

To make angry customers go away
Thu Jul 10 2008, 12:04

VERIZON WIRELESS will shell out $21 million to pay off customers in California upset with the company’s early termination fees.

The telco was sued in a class action after it made punters pay fees to end their contracts early.

Customers of six companies sued the carriers in 2006 in Alameda County Superior Court, saying that the fees violated California law.

Lawyer, Alan Plutzik who represented the angry punters said it was unclear how many Verizon customers would be eligible to share in the settlement.

Lots of things still need to be ironed out and approved by the Judge in the case, Plutzik told theThe New York Times. µ
