Fount of all volish wisdom snapped

Whistle while you blackcomb your Viennese whirl

WHICHEVER VOLE has the job of coming up with codenames for upcoming versions of Windows hasn't exactly busted a gut in its travels.

Until recently, perhaps.

It seems that going any further than the Carleton Lodge in Whistler, BC Canada, might have been a hop too far for this particular coding genius.

Whistler may have been a much-travelled painter, or a black comb a thing your barber runs through your hair. A long horn may even have been something Bill Gates hangs in his trousers.

But when all three come come together in a single image, the chances of blind coincidence being at the heart of the matter sail off down the piste.

At least, one kind INQ reader thought so.

And it seems the mighty Wiki agrees. Although we suggest this article has no place in a proper encyclopedia as it refers to intangibles that relate to a single company and which are, furthermore, simply made up.

Anyhow, the most famous Vienna we know of - aside from Rigsby's cat - is a long way from Canada. In fact it's where a chap we know called Fudo lives. And Fudo, of course, was famously a codename himself, once.

Austria may be a great place for skiiing, but not all of it. And certainly not Vienna, unless you fancy mowing down pedestrians on the Mariahilfestrasse.

Perhaps the volish code-name maker is getting a bit long in the tooth and has taken up new hobbies, like coffee drinking. Or wearing green hats with feathers in.

Or maybe it's embarked on a European tour and will soon tip up in St Anton, before nipping of to Kitzbuhel, Meribel or Val d'Isere.

That should take us up to about 2050, or thereabouts. µ
