Jews are always the victims, but where are the rest of Israel's slave wives tribes? Did someone miss to tell the whole story or are JEWS some Ashkanazi Russian Orthodox Gang who where once behind the deaths of 100 million Christians.

Somehow its okay to link Jews to Israelis? Just because many Israelis are Jews, doesn't make all Jews Israelis. 

Anti-semetic is a coined term for anti-jewish racism, it is generally accepted as meaning such, and arguing it stupid. Its like arguing racism in the US, it usually refers to white/black racism, racism against blacks.

Anyways, anti-semitism is not going to go away. But by being vigilant, the Jews of the world try to prevent pogroms and violence against Jews. Jewish organizations try to help Jews, not specifially Israelis, but the Jews of their respective countries just like Christian organizations help christians. Members of AIPAC have worked and have helped elect black congress men/women, white congress men/women, from both Democractic and Republican parties, within the US.

If anyone has trouble finding positive news about Jews, look up Nobel Lauretes and you'll see how many Jews there are, giving back to the world, helping to progress humanity. Jewish doctors, lawyers, researchers? Alot. So does every other ethnic denomination possess their own. Jews are no better, nor worse, than anyone else (w/e the Old Testament may say). Its like asking about the positive things the Hindi have done? There are alot of doctors in America who are Hindi, so thats nice.

Do all black people have a chip on their shoulder? Are all muslims terrorists? Are all Jews ...? You get the point.

Jews are vigilant and now proactive because of the Holocaust, because of pogroms. When people blame Jews for dwelling on the past, do they realize that history repeats itself? That racism, anti-semitism, etc. etc. is never erradicated. 

Did ethnic cleansing not happen in Kosovo against by the Serbs? Does it matter if genocide is against Jews specifially? No, it does not. Again, that is why Jews are proactive, to try and prevent such travesties.

In the end this is just a rant, because the blind will not see, the deaf will not hear, and the mute will stay quiet even when they bear witness to the crimes committed by one people against another.

I had a very sorry experience very recently with some friends and colleagues jews.
I live in France, and send to a rather large list of relatives some funny thing each and everyday.

Some time ago, i received a nonsense rant targeting our President Sarkozy, but also accusing the whole planet of about everything. The list of "guilty" people was extremely large : corsican, sicilians, politicians, secret services, americans (of course), and while we are at it, jews.

Figuring this was a rather funny article to read, i forwarded it to my list, with a warning introduction, on not taking this content seriously.

I immediately received some angered answered and threads exclusively from jewish-borned members of the list. Well, apparently they were declaring this article to be "anti-semitism propagand" (although jews were mentionned only twice, to be compared with corsicans which were accused 13 times; not to mention the president sarkozy all along). Some talked to me as if i was the hidden son of Hitler, or had redacted the rant myself. Some threatened me to go to court.

Well, in France, being accused of anti-semitism, even without evidence, is the next big thing after getting accused of child-abuse without evidence : your life gets ruined in a single blow, no chance to defend yourself, you will be banned from public life even if proven (many years later) not guilty.

So i had yo make public excuse in order to lessen the attack. Something which apparently pleased them. You say strong-armed ?

So, what could be the conclusion of this ?
Really, i did not even paid attention to this part of the article, given the fact that the prime subject was Mr Sarkozy, and the whole planet was accused. They may not have liked the rant, but how come the attack was so violent? 

I started to wonder how come such a powerfull weapon can be given to a specific part of the community, and how they had the trigger-finger so easy. Certainly, how come Christian faith gets mauled all the time, while a single negative word on jews can get you to court ? (and i should say "Will" get you to court, given how unrestrained they react).

As a final note, they are no longer part of my distribution list. But that's a rift they have created themselves. There was no "anti-whatever" to begin with.

Well that part is indeed true, but as a Frenchman living in France and actually reading/watching the news, I believe that your statement about French news outlets "happily" spouting anti-Jewish statements to be totally wrong.
If anything, the French media has a blanket order to always say nice things about Jews and the Jewish religion or to shut up.
You'll never read anything against Israeli bombardments either, except quotes from Israeli generals or politicians - no opinions or second views are on offer, wondering when everyone will stop furthering the bloodshed.
Sometimes there will be a bit of hand-wringing over loss of life, but it will always be non-specific and applicable to any number of other conflicts (and we have no lack of those).
And let me not forget that any mention of the word "racism" is mandatorily followed by "and anti-semitism", as if anti-semitism was worse than racism. For me, they're one and the same thing, and that thing is bad.
So French media are hardly spewing anti-semitic verbiage in any appreciable quantity.
Unless, of course, you read only the bottom-shelf rags. I don't have the faintest idea what nonsense they spew given that I don't read trash.

Wow, the comments show how alive and well anti-Semitism is in this country as well. The story has absolutely nothing to do with Israel, yet the guardian brigade conveniently leave all their carefully crafted liberal pluralistic viewpoints outside the door and engage in rank prejustice.

For most of the others - you know, here in Israel we are taught in schools about the history of antisemitism and about the holocaust. I often hear people saying that antisemitism is a thing of the past and that the modern world wouldn't tolerate it (especially after WWII), so teaching about it is a waste of time and money... but this article - and most comments - are proof that it is still relevant. All antisemitism needs is a tolerant ear to start ranting... it's pre-WWII all over again (how surprising).

For "Goes" - history shows that "criticism" about Jews often leads to violence. That's the main difference. Of course, there are the crusades, and the recent terrorism - mostly from Muslim, but not always. Religious "criticism" is always dangerous. Also, what does Israel have to do with all of this?

I don't think that you're interested to know.. but if you would check, you'll see that the Lebanese targeted CIVILIANS, but the Israelis targeted their militants (and because thay chosse to fight from inside of the villages, civilians also get hurt).

I have nothing against the Jews - the only problem I have right now is to understand why I can't find anything positive about them with news like that all the time.

And as others note the evidence is either missing or they are not what I would call "self critical" and judge them selves for once in a while. Racism is going on in the world all the time - not just in France and I surely could find evidence of Jewish examples in no time as well.

I would rather like to see something positive about the Jews, but so far I failed to spot it as every time I hear about them is one of the examples I previously stated.

i find incredible stuff on youtube, hook-nosed charactures being stuffed into ovens with evil smiles on their faces during the most innocuous searches. they're not suing over that, even though youtube has always been like that.

i think they're suing because it actually uses the faces of real people, in the context that we should go get these real people. and thats at least on the border of libel, which is the border of legal free speech.

free speech covers a nazi rally, which is good (its their right, even if i find them disgusting and stopping them from marching just makes it worse), but if at the rally they say they should kill all the jews (again) then thats illegal, which is also good. if they hold up pictures of a bunch of prominent jews, its not such a stretch to see that as an insitement of violence against those particular jews.

the point is, jews don't sue over everything, i think the threshold is actually really high. i don't know if i support this, but if my picture was on it, i probably would? either way, i can see why people did this.

Comments like that posted by "Chris" and Christopher Thomas" (same person?) are evidence why the lawsuit in question is quite valid and required. 

Rascism in France is nothing new, and as pointed out by professor Richard Landes (see www.theaugeanstables.com, Al-Durrah affair articles) the popular media in France is rather quite baised, and happy to make comments against Jews without evidence, whereas they would otherwise be silent about even the most gross error on thier local part. They even made suit for libel against opponents when it became obvious a crucial bit of evidence was fabricated to put the screws against other news from reporting the deciet carried out with their knowledge.

As for history, also see Edward H. Flannery's book. Many Jews are quite aware of history since members of the last generation (and this generation depending where you live) have been affected.

Whenever I come across a story of this kind I, and I am sure thousands of others want to find said offensive material and then having seen and heard it are convinced that these people are going out of their way to be despised and disliked and are seeking persecution. They are also the most bigoted self-centered people you are most likely to come across. (experienced)

Every time you read about Jews they are either suing somebody or stir the heat about past happenings.

I find it very disturbing that everytime you hear about Jews nowadays it is either because:
- there is a new monument or they made someone pay because of things that happened back at a time when most of us did not even live
- Somebody made something (intentionally or non-intentionally) which might be remotely antisemitic
- the ever raging war between them and the other religion which (to bring it back to the mind) started because they suddenly claimed land which was abandoned for so long and meanwhile was occupied by someone else

Coming from Canada, and being of both French and English descent (yes, I have a lot of inner conflict), I honestly find any story involving France and racism pretty much par for the course.

Example: in Quebec, the "we're still a French colony" province in Canada, several years ago, thanks to language laws, shipments of goods to Montreal from New York for the celebration of Hanukkah were turned away, not because they contained illegal material, but because they didn't have French language written on the crates, only English and Hebrew. This is not an exaggeration, this is true. The customs officers could read English just fine, but they felt as proper Frenchmen, they shouldn't accept any material that didn't have French as the predominant language on the crates. 

So I ask... how is this surprising? Xenophobia is sad and pathetic, but it's real in every culture.. just a few seem to embrace it more readily than others.
