Get Nvidia desktop drivers on your laptop

Stop waiting, start modding
Thu Aug 14 2008, 16:18

DRIVER HEAVEN HAS released a useful tool for the majority of Nvidia-driven laptop owners.

The software produced by Driver Heaven allows Nvidia notebook GPU owners to mod and utilise the up-to-date desktop drivers released by Nvidia to run on their laptops.

Drivers for laptops can take some time to filter down from similar, supported parts used in desktop graphics cards.

This release comes at a timely point - shortly after Nvidia released the Physx-supporting Power Pack for the company's desktop offerings.

Driver Heaven has previously released a similar tool for ATI/DAAMIT GPUs - with other 10 million downloads.

The DH Nvidia Mobility Modder is available for download here.

The tool is currently in beta, numbered version 0.3.0.

Just try not to melt your GPU. ยต

In an app

I've used laptopsvideo2go before too, and you do get a couple more options. However, giving Driver Heaven's app a go, it's free, easy and user friendly, so you could argue anyone can do it!

Notebook Forums provide the same service: http://www.notebookforums.com/showthread.php?s=c29ff8479894fcf15e629918fad90fe5&t=206047

easy tool

thats fine if you are an experience enthusiast. This tool takes away all the hassles of laptopvideo2go, and lets be honest their site is a mess with infs and mods all over the place. This tool is just a simple click once, bam, done.

Its a good idea when you comment to get the big picture in your head rather than just your own narrow minded view.

Tool for the Red camp

And for those of us in the Red camp (ATI), we have Mobility Modder...

Not so new

This is probably nice for non-technical users (read - not the INQ audience). I've been doing this with my Toshiba by just manually installing the driver in the device manager. No inf mods needed.

Good site for drivers

One has been able to use the desktop drivers on laptops for years - the only thing you have to do is replace the INF file in the driver files.
Download the version of your choice from:
http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/drivers

and the modded INF file to allow it to work with mobile GPU's.
They also have an INF enhancer which can fix some errors and bugs and enable some hidden features.

I've been using it for several years with no issues (other than the general quality of some of NVidia's drivers...)

Laptopvideo2go

Laptopvideo2go.com has been providing this service to us mobile users for sometime. They offer the driver and a pre-modded .inf
pretty simple to use and nothing really new about all this.

Authorities in several countries raided Megaupload recently, shut down all of its services, seized hundreds of servers and arrested several of its executives on criminal charges.

Do you think the move was justified?
