French website PresencePC.com reports the Panasonic Lumix FZ7 digital camera. You will notice the Lumix FZ7 for its optical zoom, a 12x model which is made by Leica. It i also capable of reaching high ISOs, 800 and 1600 which makes it particularly impressive in dim light. Plenty of nice Parisian photos to illustrate how that digital camera might be the perfect bridge between the thinnies and the biggies. Beautiful pictures, quality finish and top notch handling.
The Telstar TLD-3500 Network Attached Storage enclosure is on the agenda at Big Bruin. The unit uses 3.5-inch PATA drives and can accept models up to 250GB. It is made up of aluminium, which should be helpful to dissipate heat. Apart from that, there is a RJ45 port and a USB one. Looks like a great idea as it means that you do not need a computer to act as a file server, moreover, you can get two NAS together as they support RAID-1. A great deal if you can grab one.
Cooaler benchmarks a rig with four 1GB G.Skill memory modules marked as DDR1200 with a CL rating of 4-4-3-4. The reviewer has a license to kill, a it is also provided itwh a Core2 Duo Conroe which he overclocks to 4GHz. The result? What about SuperPi 1MB done in around 12.64sec. The review is in Chinese but the photos and the benchmark figures speak for themselves.
Gordon Laing, from Camera Labs, lets us know about an article on the Canon EOS 400D / Digital Rebel XTi. On the menu, a 10MP captor, a 2.5-inch LCD screen and much more. This type of material is definitely not for the Sunday happy shooter. Gordon considers that the EOS400D represents much more than a simple change in numeration. Interestingly, the conclusion is not a fixed one but compares the EOS400D to other digital SLRs taking into account previous generations as well. The scores might be a bit harsh for the build quality but for the rest, it looks the Sony Alpha 100 has some serious competition.
Hardware-Review reports on the Icy Dock MB449 Swap Pro SATA Internal Mobile Rack. A 150GB Raptor drive is used for the test and frankly, you couldn't dream of a noisier and hotter SATA drive. The rack comes with its own connectors and a smallish fan. It is quite cheap and its all aluminium cage will dissipate heat efficiently. However, as one can expect, the major problem encountered is the noise level which can be very important at times. µ
