Shuttle set to finally launch its X100 XPC

The smallest desktop PC
Tue Aug 15 2006, 09:54
SHUTTLE is finally set to announce the world smallest desktop computer.

We wrote about it on at least on three occasions here at Cebit 2006, here at Computex 2006 and here. We have been waiting for this system ever since.

X100 the ultra small PC is a nattily-designed, incredible small PC that is set to enter the American market in two flavours. The first one will cost $699 and will come with Intel Celeron M, 512MB of memory and 80GB hard drive. We remember that this small case with a tiny motherboard uses X1400 compatible graphics and we can think of it as a competitor to MAC mini. The standard machine comes with four-in-one multi format card reader and high definition 7.1 audio. This is not a bare bones machine, it is a fully functional PC.

The second machine is set to cost $999 and comes with Intel Core Due CPU up to 2GHz, 1GB of memory, a 250GB hard drive, Intel Wireless LAN, Slim slot-in DVD recorder. The more expensive model also comes with the card reader and 7.1 audio. Guess what, you can place the machine vertically just as you can with most of your routers and cable modems. It will take less space. The machine is fully Vista compatible.

The machine is two inches thick and uses only 120W of power. This is the smallest PC we have seen in production and it can do everything you want your huge desktop PC to do.

The machine should be available in the next week or so. You can configure and order the machine at this link. ยต
