"iPhone Extreme" hidden in Apple HTML

Mystery gadget lurks in wibble code
Tuesday, 2 October 2007, 18:48

A KEEN EYED fellow over at the iPhoneBugList has spotted a curious piece of text on one of Apple's iPhone web pages, reports AppleInsider.

Buried deep within the page source, there's a mention of an "iPhone Extreme, " floating about the code in a hidden variable on the feedback form.

We don't really know what this is all about, or if it's anything to keep an eye on at all, but we're sure Apple fanbois would welcome an "extreme" edition in open arms.

Which maybe explodes if you drop below 5 miles per hour and is covered with razors and skateboarding stickers. Cool. Extreme. µ

Cool

I like how my favorite tech news/rumors site now allows us to comment on articles. How long has this been going on?

Extreme could be...

...referring to a future support of their 802.11n WiFi implementation on iPhone

iPhone "extreme"

It probably just refers to the price of an upcoming model in a splashy new color. Maybe the battery explodes if you unlock the iPhone "extreme" and try to use it with a service other than AT&T.
