The market's not ready for DDR 3

DISTREE XXL 2007 Viva DDR 2
Tuesday, 30 January 2007, 11:49
OF THE MANY memory manufacturers we've talked to here in Monte Carlo, none expects DDR 3 to make it big in 2007. It won't get significant market share, they reckon, no matter what Intel claims.

Some manufacturers are ready to meet Chipzilla's demands and launch the modules but DDR3 will take only a few percent of the total market in 2007. It is a good concept and it will get cooler and the voltages will decrease. And speeds will go higher than 1333MHz soon.

DDR 2 remains the next big thing and will rule the mainstream. Vista will pump up demand for memory and some emerging markets such as south America, eastern Europe are still stuck with DDR one. ยต
